Homemade croutons

Simple Croutons Recipe

4+
15 minutes

These golden, crispy homemade croutons with a touch of sea salt are the perfect addition to any warming soup or fresh green salad, adding crunch, flavour and substance to light meals. Simply toss cubed bread in Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil and sea salt, then bake for ten minutes for easy oven‑baked croutons. You can switch up the seasoning to suit your dish, and while sourdough croutons give the best flavour and crunch, any slightly stale bread works beautifully and is easier to cut.

Method

  1. 1

    Preheat your oven to 180°C.

  2. 2

Cut your bread into cubes, about 2-3cm in size. In a large bowl, toss your bread with Mellow Yellow Rapeseed Oil and salt.

  3. 3

Spread out on a baking tray and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden and crunchy, you can turn the croutons over halfway through the cooking time if they look like they are getting too much colour.

  4. 4

Enjoy with your favourite soups and salads. These croutons will last for 1-2 weeks if stored in an airtight container.
